2013 was the Year of the Side Chick in popular culture, with glamorous single ladies like the ones portrayed by Kerry Washington in Scandal and Gabrielle Union in Being Mary Jane caught up in steamy affairs with married men. I don’t get the appeal. To me, a gal whose romantic fantasy is to be the other woman is like a boy who dreams about one day being a co-pilot.
Many women relate because they’ve played the role of homewrecker at some point in their lives — and some express no moral qualms about it. They point out that only the married person in the extramarital affair is committing adultery and so, morally, they’re off the hook. But in addition to the 7th Commandment banning adultery, the 10th Commandment forbids you to covet your neighbor’s spouse. So, sleep with a married man and you’ve also committed a moral sin. You wind up in Hell just like the cheating hubby.

Love and Sex: The Burning Question 
What drives relationships these day? With everything being so fast paced. People are being propelled foward and it’s as though you are caught up in a sea of life, in which the “time” to think and “weigh” decisions is no longer available. “Everything” is now “instantaneous” with just a click of a button and its at your fingertips. THere is no more romancing or getting to know each other. Earning trust and respect are no longer at the forefront of relationships. These values are now replaced by the material measurables, ie.., designer hand bags, dresses, jewelry, trips or cars that may be given during the “encounter period”(time which two people have met, phsically attracted and share bodily fluids, not necessarily in this order and not exclusively either). Inevitably knowing who you are involved with is secondary. The power, physical attraction and the appeal is first and foremost. I do not know to what end I am living for the moment; I want/need “it” now!
